What We Do

The Worship Committee, in keeping with the Directory of Worship of the Book of Order [W-1.4005-4006], shall work closely with the Pastor and the Minister of Music to ensure that the worship services are relevant and inspiring and that they fulfill the spiritual needs of the congregation.

We express our sincere appreciation to Chancel Choir President, Elder Jochebed Jordan, for her continued efforts to keep our choir members informed, motivated and encouraged with her uplifting “Choir Notes” email messages and for supporting our supply musicians by directing the choir at Sunday services as needed.

We sincerely thank our Deacons, Elders, ZOLAS, Young Adults and Redeemer members who serve as liturgists throughout the year.

Worship Committee’s accomplishments for 2018:

  • Planned and coordinated the installation and ordination of new officers.

  • Selected and scheduled Sunday worship service liturgists, including our ZOLAS and Young Adults, when available. 

  • Helped managed the weekly Fellowship Hour schedule.

  • Selected and scheduled guest ministers and musicians, including CAFÉ’ and the Trinity Singers (December 30th).

  • Purchased additional Communion Kits and coordinated the serving of Extended Communion to our Sick and Shut-in Members and Friends of Redeemer.

  • Worked closely with the families of our deceased Church Members/Redeemer Friends (Morgan Jones, Deacon Carolyn Etheridge and Richard Hicks), to help plan the funeral services and repasts, by assisting with the preparation and/or editing of the obituaries and funeral program, outlining the order of service, selecting/identifying ministers, guest soloists, musicians, pallbearers; and, the ordering/delivery of floral expressions, etc.

  • Supported 60th Anniversary Committee chairs Elders C. Payne and K. Moore and Elder J. Jordan in the selection and publishing of “Lest We Forget” Photos of Redeemer Historical events, organizations and members over the last 60 years in our Sunday Bulletin throughout 2018.

  • Worked closely with Redeemer’s 60th Anniversary Committee to prepare the Redeemer 60th Anniversary Record Book (Ticket Distribution/Collections, Ad and Name Listing Recording and Deposit Record) for the Anniversary Souvenir Journal and worked diligently to solicit and collect added contributions resulting in total collections totaling $ 11,995.00.
